Simple Dream
03:26
|
|

Had a simple dream, peaceful and serene,
Soaking in the calm, resting in your arms.
For when you come to me at night
And we outshine the angels bright
I know my life can be just like a simple dream.
Write a simple song, sang it proud and strong,
It needs some harmony; maybe you and me?
And we can find the notes we need
If we stand close; we will succeed!
Descant and melody both lead my simple song.
Won't you come dancing out tonight
When the moon is shining?
Won't you gavotte and waltz with me?
Won't you two-step and polka?
I'll be dancing all my life with you.
I'll be dancing all my life with you.
Made a simple plan, let's keep it if we can;
Whatever comes our way, together we will stay.
And if our road is steep and hard,
Or if our lives get worn and scarred,
Let's stand together as we guard our simple plan.
Descant and melody both lead
My simple song.
I know my life can be just like
Our simple dream.

My Little Prison

In my little prison I hear the sun shining on the wall.
If I never see it; if I seldom feel it;
Can it exist at all?
In my little prison I have a shelf where I keep my dreams.
Used to believe them, now I no longer need them,
Not even sure what they mean.
You put me here like a bird in a cage,
I am found but I'm lost and my gaol is a stage.
In my little prison old friends drop in from time to time.
They never stay long, and it always feel wrong
When they confess to my crimes.
In my little prison they feed me truth 'till I'm full of lies.
Then they get quirky, starve me cold turkey,
Watching for defeat in my eyes.
You left me here like a fool on a hill,
I am lucid yet mad, and I sit up here still.
In my little prison the guards live here, inside my cell.
They demand my attention in ev'ry dimension
To keep me under the spell.
You put me here like a judge at a trial.
You accuse and defend, then I sentence myself with a smile.
You put me here like a fool on a hill,
I am lucid yet mad, and I sit up here still.

Harrisonelle New Zealand
I make music in a glorified spare bedroom in Aotearoa New Zealand. It is truly glorified; last time I looked there were four
or five halos, none of which I ever get to wear, mind.
I'm a small part of sidesister.bandcamp.com. Harrisonelle is not so much a cathartic graveyard for the ideas sideSister doesn't want, as a way of pushing boundaries that aren't an ideal fit for the dynamic duo.
